Dating from 1935, this vintage advertising poster of La Dune Du Pyla was created for the Paris-Orléans-Midi railways. The artist is Pierre Commarmond, very famous for his paintings of maritime landscapes. The painter here emphasizes the immensity of the Arcachon basin, where ultimately the Grande Dune de Commarmond does not seem so large despite its height of 110 meters. It was in the 1930s that the beginning of significant tourism for the largest dune in Europe began to appear.
