Dating from 1931, this retro advertising poster for the Paris-Orléans railways showcases the town of La Baule. Created by the illustrator ALO, who was a fan of Brittany, he created an ambitious creation, reducing the town to a simple “horizon.” Instead, he prefers to highlight a splendid sailboat that occupies the entire height of this advertising visual. We can thus imagine a regatta on this capricious sea. It should also be noted that in this advertising image, the water is painted blue, something ALO very rarely did. Despite everything, we find its particularity: the use of a strong ochre in the color of the sky.
