Description of this Marshall Plan Propaganda Poster
This 1950 propaganda poster seeks to draw attention to the Americans’ double game: saving France, yes, but at the cost of losing its autonomy in the face of the American giant, represented here in the image of a giant octopus. The fact that it was created by the French Communist Party is not insignificant: according to them, there is a revisionist narrative of history given that the number of deaths in the USSR was far greater than that of the Americans. The communists would therefore be the “true” defenders of France, those who want to restore its greatness.
